There are plenty of reasons why we’ve been voted “Best Dentist” of Uvalde County, but one we’re particularly proud of is our team of outstanding professionals. Every team member shares Dr. Munoz’s belief that patients should feel like family. One of those team members is our beloved Dental Hygienist, Julie. With her naturally happy disposition, Julie spreads joy throughout the office every single day.
A native of Pampa, Texas, Julie became fascinated with dentistry at a young age when she started wearing braces. While she originally thought she would become an orthodontist, she took a brief detour into the world of accounting. When she moved to Uvalde, Julie knew it was time for a career change. Since then, she completed dental hygiene school then joined the Michelle Munoz, DDS family in 2013. She truly loves being a hygienist, as it gives her the opportunity to teach people how to take better care of their teeth and oral tissues. “It’s also very rewarding when I can help someone feel healthier and feel better about their appearance,” Julie said.
As much as Julie loves working in the dental field, she also enjoys her time away from the office. One of her favorite hobbies is fixing up her house. “I like to do the work myself if I think I can do it without tearing something up,” she said. She also enjoys playing games on Xbox with her husband, riding roller coasters at Six Flags with her daughter, and spending as much time as she can with her baby granddaughter.
Even when Julie is spending time with her family, she is thinking about her patients. She offers this advice: “Take care of your teeth; you don’t get another set. Prevention of dental problems is always cheaper than restoration.”
