General Practice FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

We work with most insurance plans and are happy to help you understand your benefits.

Even if we’re out of network, many patients are surprised at how straightforward the reimbursement can be, and our team will walk you through what to expect.

What if the practice is out of network with my insurance?

Being out of network simply means we are able to recommend the care that’s best for you without being limited by insurance contracts.

Many patients still choose us because they value the quality, experience, and long-term results.

Do you offer payment plans or financing?

Yes. We offer flexible financing options to make treatment accessible and predictable.

Our team can review your budget, the timeline of your treatment, and the best way to break payments into manageable monthly options.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your first visit focuses on understanding your goals, reviewing your health history, and taking any necessary imaging.

We make this appointment comfortable, conversational, and unhurried so you leave with clarity about your oral health and next steps.

How soon can I schedule an appointment?

We do our best to schedule patients as promptly as possible based on the type of visit. If you’re experiencing discomfort or have an urgent concern, we do our best to bring you in the same day

HYGIENE & PREVENTIVE CARE

Are dental cleanings supposed to hurt?

Cleanings should not be painful.

If you’ve been told you have inflammation or gingivitis, your gums may feel tender but our hygiene team uses gentle techniques and modern technology to make everything as comfortable as possible.

What’s the difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning?

A regular cleaning removes plaque and tartar above the gumline. A deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) goes below the gumline to treat gum disease and stop harmful bacteria from progressing.

How often should I have a dental cleaning?

Most adults need a cleaning every 6 months.

If you have gum disease or certain risk factors, we may recommend a customized schedule to protect your long-term oral health.

PERIODONTICS

Does gum disease go away on its own?

Gum disease cannot heal on its own, but early treatment can completely stop its progression.

Our goal is to protect the bone and gum tissue that support your teeth before any long-term damage occurs.

Is laser therapy better than traditional gum treatment?

Laser therapy can be a gentler, faster-healing alternative to traditional gum surgery.

It targets infected areas with precision and can reduce bleeding, swelling, and recovery time.

How do I know if I have gum disease?

Common signs include bleeding gums, bad breath, gum recession, and tenderness when brushing.

Some people experience no symptoms at all, which is why routine exams are important.

Can gum disease affect my overall health?

Yes. Gum disease has been linked to inflammation in the body and can impact heart health, diabetes, and other systemic conditions.

Treating it early supports not only your oral health but your total health.

SEDATION

What sedation options do you offer?

We offer a range of options such as nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation depending on your needs.

Sedation can make longer appointments more comfortable and reduce anxiety.

Is sedation dentistry safe?

When administered by trained professionals, sedation is extremely safe.
We review your medical history and tailor your sedation level for a relaxed, monitored experience.

DENTAL IMPLANTS

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants are designed to last for decades when cared for properly. The implant becomes part of your jawbone, making it one of the most durable tooth replacement options. With good home care and routine visits, most implants remain stable for a lifetime.

Do dental implants hurt?

Most patients say the procedure is much easier than they expected. You’ll be completely numb during placement, and many people return to normal activities the next day. Any soreness afterward is usually mild and can be managed with over-the-counter medication.

How long does it take to get an implant from start to finish?

Most implant cases take 3–6 months, depending on healing and whether additional steps like bone grafting are needed. Some patients qualify for faster timelines, and we’ll outline your exact treatment plan at your consultation.

What is a bone graft and why might I need one?

A bone graft adds support to areas where the jawbone has thinned or shrunk. Not everyone needs one, but it helps create the stability an implant needs to last long-term. We’ll evaluate this with digital imaging to see if it’s necessary.

Are implants safe?

Yes. Dental implants have a long history of success and are considered one of the safest and most predictable dental procedures. We use high-quality materials and precise planning to ensure a stable, healthy outcome.

How do dental implants compare to bridges or dentures?

Implants look and function like natural teeth and help preserve your jawbone over time. Unlike dentures, they don’t shift or require adhesives. And unlike bridges, they don’t rely on neighboring teeth for support.

What is the recovery like after getting an implant?

Most patients experience mild swelling or tenderness for a couple of days. You can usually return to normal activities within 24 hours, and we provide simple home-care instructions to help the area heal smoothly.

How much do dental implants cost?

Because we restore implants but do not place them surgically, we will review our fees for the restoration and help you understand the surgical costs from the specialist if needed.

Implant costs vary based on how many teeth are being replaced and whether additional procedures are needed. We’ll give you a clear breakdown during your consultation and review any financing options to make treatment affordable.

Am I a good candidate for dental implants?

Our practice does not place implants, but we work closely with trusted specialists for the surgical phase and provide the restorative portion once healing is complete.

Most healthy adults qualify for implants. We’ll take digital imaging to make sure your jawbone is strong enough and review your medical history. Even if you’ve been told you’re not a candidate before, modern techniques have expanded options for many patients.

Can smokers get dental implants?

Smoking doesn’t automatically disqualify you, but it can slow healing and increase risk of complications. If you smoke, we’ll discuss how to support a successful outcome and whether temporary adjustments are needed.

Do implants look natural?

Yes. The crown attached to your implant is custom-made to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth. Most people cannot tell which tooth is the implant.

How do I care for my dental implant?

Implants are cared for just like natural teeth: brushing, flossing, and routine hygiene visits. Good home care helps protect the gum tissue around the implant and ensures long-term success.

Can a failed implant be replaced?

In most cases, yes. If an implant didn’t integrate properly or has been damaged over time, we can often replace it after evaluating the area and giving it time to heal.

What is full-arch implant treatment (All-on-X)?

Full-arch implants replace an entire upper or lower arch of teeth using a small number of implants for stability. This treatment is ideal for patients with failing teeth, denture frustration, or complex dental concerns.
